The three FDA approved botulinum toxins are more similar than different. They all share the same mechanism of action and they are all type A botulinum toxins that have been proven to be safe and effective when used appropriately for cosmetic use.
Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxin A), Xeomin (incobotulinum toxin A), and Dysport (abobotulinum toxin A) all have shown the same results and similar duration of effect.
Botox and Xeomin are dosed equally with similar potency, whereas the Dysport is quite different with no exact conversion. Dysport and Xeomin have been reported to have a faster onset than botox, and xeomin tends to burn less with injection, and fewer patients complain of "heaviness" after treatment. Dysport claims to also include an increased diffusion ratio and a "softer" effect than Botox. Dysport may be a better choice for larger areas such as the forehead and crows feet. If you have tried Botox and love the results, then you may want to try the more cost effective alternative of Xeomin or Dysport and be equally as happy.

Xeomin is a prescription medication used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. XEOMIN contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin type A acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN can temporarily reduce the lines on your forehead, between your brows, crows feet, and lip lines. XEOMIN was approved by the FDA in July 2011. It is now widely available to patients across the US.
